EastEnders has aired emotional exits for two major characters, as Bernie Taylor’s dramatic revenge plot concludes.

Bernie has been stealing from the Panesars, planning to use the money to start a new life in Spain. Vicki discovered this deception, but Bernie framed her for the theft when Ravi and Priya confronted her about this.

In today’s double bill, Ravi set about punishing Vicki and used Joel to lure her into a trap at Walford East.

He took Joel and locked him in the freezer until Vicki confessed to stealing, but Suki and Bernie intervened before things got out of hand.

Ravi grew suspicious of Bernie, but Suki was quick to defend her – fearing that Bernie might expose the truth about Keanu’s death.

But Ravi and Priya hatched a new plan, purposely breaking her laptop then buying her a new one. Vinny installed spyware on the replacement device before gifting it to Bernie, so they could see all her online activity.

The next day, in the second episode, Bernie confirmed her plans to leave for Spain that evening – and she gave Felix a boarding pass for if he changed his mind about joining her.

As she prepared to start her new life, Bernie went to the allotments to say an emotional goodbye to her stillborn baby Belle – with an incredibly poignant performance by Clair Norris.

With Bernie about to transfer the final sum of money to her account, Felix insisted that he wanted to stay in Walford and make a go of things with Johnny.

Bernie then felt she had no choice but to tell Felix that Johnny has known the truth about Keanu’s death all along. Furious Felix headed into The Albert to confront his boyfriend – and discovered Johnny kissing Callum.

At the last moment, Felix decided to leave with Bernie, dressed as his glamorous drag persona Tara Misu.

The pair were stopped by Suki, but Bernie reasoned that taking this money would allow her to finally move on from the pain that The Six caused her. With encouragement from Linda, Kathy and Denise, Suki set Bernie free and let her leave with the cash.

Using the spyware, Ravi and Vinny got confirmation that Bernie has stolen a huge sum of money from their family.

But it was too late, as Bernie and Felix left Albert Square in a taxi, ready to start a new chapter in Spain together.
