Emmerdale has seen DS Walsh spotting a key clue linking Paddy Dingle to Ray Walters’ murder as police are looking for Bear Wolf’s potential accomplices.
Earlier on the soap, Bear confessed to killing Ray, though DS Walsh suspected someone else might’ve been involved and helped Bear moving Ray’s body.
As Bear assaulted Jacob Gallagher at the hospital, he breached his bail conditions and went into hiding, with Paddy and Dylan Penders looking everywhere for him.
No one in the village was able to locate Bear, leaving DS Walsh no choice but to inform Paddy that his dad would be re-arrested and held on remand when they found him.

Later on, Paddy finally found his dad at Anya Berisha’s empty grave. A distraught Bear kneeled down, talking to Anya and expressing regret over not having done more to save her.
Paddy convinced Bear to go home, devising a plan to prevent him from being held on remand. The vet suggested his dad could stay a secure mental health unit rather than go to prison as he awaited trial.
Bear agreed, breaking down in tears and asking Paddy to help him pack.
“I can’t go on like this,” Bear said.
When he was ready to go, Mandy and Dylan hugged him goodbye. Paddy drove him to the mental health unit, assuring his dad that he’d be alright as everyone there was “lovely” and that he’d visit him often, but Bear insisted he needed to go through this on his own, adding: “It’ll be easier that way.”
DS Walsh visited Paddy at the vet clinic to inform him the mental health unit had phoned the police about Bear. She confirmed that Bear wasn’t fit to go back to prison for the time being, but he would still be transferred to jail as soon as possible.

She tried to handle the situation sensitively, but her eye fell on the rope Paddy kept at the clinic.
Later that day, Walsh returned to the clinic and asked Vanessa to let her in with an excuse. Once in, the detective swiftly took a picture of the rope and left, calling the station to ask Paddy be brought back in for questioning.
“I’ve got some new evidence,” she said as a flashback revealed that the rope was used to tie Ray’s body.
