EastEnders star Laura Doddington has weighed in on an intriguing Nicola Mitchell fan theory.

Since her bombshell arrival at the end of last year, Nicola has made her mark in Albert Square. The fiery ex-wife of Teddy Mitchell (Roland Manookian) burst onto the scene, hoping to reconnect with sons Harry (Elijah Holloway) and Barney (Lewis Bridgeman), but her arrival was met with resistance, particularly from Teddy, who was far from thrilled to have his ex-wife back in his life.

In recent weeks, fans have begun speculating about a potential new character hitting the square-Nicola’s sister! Having been referenced multiple times but never seen, viewers have jumped to conclusions about who this mystery sibling may be, with some even guessing it’s a previous star of the show.

Speaking with Radio Times,  Laura Doddington admitted: ‘All I know is Nicola said she was going on holiday to Ibiza with her sister, and everyone started talking about it’

‘Apparently, some fans thought her sister could be Roxy Mitchell!’

As viewers of the BBC One soap, Roxy Mitchell was controversially killed off the show in 2017 alongside her sister Ronnie Mitchell, as they both drowned in a swimming pool on Ronnie’s wedding night.

It seems fans are keen for another Mitchell sisters duo to shake up Albert Square!

With Nicola’s appearance often being compared online to the late great Peggy Mitchell, fans are wondering if she could be the secret love child of the EastEnders legend.

Doddington confirmed, ‘I don’t know if there are any plans for a sister to be brought in, or what she’d be like.’ But I think fans can agree it would be a welcome addition to the show, especially if she resembles her sister’s fiery nature.

There’s no doubt that since arriving on the scene, Nicola has become a key player in some of the most explosive storylines, with the shock murder confession of her son’s ex-girlfriend, Shireen Bashar, that still has fans reeling and left her relationships with her sons hanging by a thread.

With there being no signs of Nicola’s chaos going anywhere, the star confirmed her love for the role ‘EastEnders is hard work, but I cannot express how much I am loving it. Even if I have to get up at 4 am to blow dry my hair straight, I wake up in a good mood because I’m going to work- I’m ecstatic to be here!’
