Stacey Slater and Martin Fowler will share a kiss on EastEnders after he makes a life-threatening decision.
Martin’s world has been turned upside down in recent weeks following the return of his ex-wife Ruby Allen, who shared
that she had secretly given birth to his son, Roman, whilst in prison.
Martin has sought full custody of Roman ever since he discovered the truth, confiding in Stacey that he would attempt to
get on Ruby’s good side and have his name added onto
the birth certificate.
Despite his schemes against Ruby, Martin reiterated his desire to care for Roman, who is in hospital as he recovers from autoimmune hepatitis. Following complications involving a potential donor, Martin offered to undergo a transplant.
In scenes set to air in the week commencing December 16, the doctors confirm to Ruby and Martin that he is indeed a match, with Ruby being surprised after Martin immediately agrees to the procedure.
Martin later informs the whole family of his decision, with Lily becoming upset after fearing how Martin’s other children would react should the surgery go badly. Martin later confides in Stacey that he’s worried about the procedure, with the pair becoming closer as a result.
After becoming emotional, Martin leans in for a kiss with a shocked Stacey, and the pair are left confused over their unresolved feelings. Stacey later tells her mother, Jean, about the incident.
Ruby’s return hasn’t just impacted Martin, with Stacey having to face the woman whose lies caused her to spend six months in prison. Naturally, there is still bad blood between the pair, with Lacey Turner – who plays Stacey – discussing the storyline.
“She doesn’t trust Ruby as far as she can throw her, and the last time they saw each other, things obviously didn’t end very well and Stacey ended up spending six months in prison because Ruby lied,” she said. “I’m not sure that they’ll ever get past that. At the moment, in Stacey’s world, those bridges have been burnt, but in time, maybe it could change.”
