EastEnders star Diane Parish has paid a sweet tribute to her co-star Steve McFadden following his epic performance in last night’s special flashback episode, calling it “magnificent”.
Viewers will know that Phil Mitchell has been struggling with depression over the last few months and in last night’s episode Phil’s mental health saw him hallucinating scenes from 1985 inside his childhood home.
In the emotional episode Phil saw scenes from the past in which his dad told his younger self and family that he had months to live.
Phil conversed with his younger self as well as a younger version of his mother Peggy Mitchell, who told him in the hallucination to take his own life.
After listening to his mum, Phil began to load a gun but was interrupted by his best friend Nigel and brother Grant, before the episode ended.
Taking to Instagram to praise her co-star’s performance, Parish, who stars as Denise Fox on the soap, called the performance “magnificent”.
“I am so proud to say that I work with one of the finest actors in the UK in @bbceastenders,” she penned alongside a promotional shot of the episode.
She continued: “This performance was hands down one of the most magnificent tour de forces I have seen on British television. I am completely blown away and mesmerised by what our friend Steve gifted us with tonight….
“And if y’all don’t give this man his damn flowers this year. I’m coming for ya!”
Echoing her co-star’s sentiments, Natalie Cassidy, who stars as Sonia Fowler, took to her own social media to praise McFadden, telling fans he should win a BAFTA for his performance.
“I’ve only got one thing to say tonight and if Steve McFadden doesn’t win a BAFTA, I’m out,” she shared in a video.
