EastEnders‘ Bianca Jackson is set to battle with trauma after her ordeal at the hands of Reiss Colwell.
Before his death by bathtub in the 40th anniversary week, Reiss had kept Bianca captive in order to stop her revealing the truth of his crimes.
Although she’s now free and Reiss is dead, upcoming scenes will show that Bianca is struggling to face the outside world.
George Knight tries to reassure her that she’s not to blame for what happened, but she says she can’t bear going outside. The Knights try and get her to visit Beale’s Eels, but she gets overwhelmed.
When Kat Slater pays her a visit, she begins to open up about her trauma and her fears. Kat tries to give her advice and some suggestions, but things don’t go well.
Kojo Asare tries to help Bianca by going to Beale’s Eels and getting her some food, but some local lads corner him and start kicking off. Peter sounds the alarm, and Bianca has to try and push past her struggle to help her friend out.
Last year, Bianca actor Patsy Palmer opened up about her own mental health difficulties due to working on such a huge show from a young age.
“At some moments in all that madness back in the 1990s it would hit you and you would feel so overwhelmed and the anxiety would kick in,” she said.
“If you suffer from anxiety attacks, you don’t know what is happening. For me it was very environmental and about what was happening around me and what was happening in my life at that time. People see all the awards and people think it is glamorous, but it is the hardest work I have ever had at EastEnders.”
