EastEnders has aired an unexpected return for popular character Mickey

Miller, in the show’s latest episode.

Joe Swash played Mickey between 2003 and 2008, a loveable rogue who

worked on the market stalls and was often involved in dodgy money-making schemes with Mo Harris.

The Millers became an established family in Albert Square, but after his mum Rosie left to work at a hotel in the Cotswolds in 2006, Mickey and his dad Keith joined her a couple of years later.

Mickey made a brief appearance in 2011, to coincide with his brother Darren’s exit storyline, but it has been 13 years since the character has been seen in Walford.

His return, which has been kept a complete surprise, was teased in today’s episode, when a mysterious figure in a suit stepped out of a car and onto the Square.

Meanwhile, Mo and Kim were preparing to shoot their cheeky calendar with Walford’s market traders. But Alfie came bearing bad news, informing Mo that the photographer’s car had broken down and he wouldn’t be able to make it.

The pair were left wondering how they were going to complete their project – but at that moment, Mickey made a surprise arrival and reunited with his old partner-in-crime Mo.

Things have gone well for Mickey in the last decade, as he explained that he now runs a successful eco-friendly B&B chain called ‘Miller’s Villas’.

It’s a family affair, as his mum does the laundry, his sister Dawn is front of house, and his dad helps out too – plus Mickey is now married with three kids.

Mickey’s return is likely to be brief, but he might have one more important job to do first. With the photoshoot in full swing, Kim realised that they had put Martin on the list twice and therefore needed a ‘Mr December’ for their calendar.

“Don’t worry,” said Mo, while glancing at Mickey. “I know just the man…”
