Coronation Street star Tanisha Gorey has revealed that Dev Alahan’s absence from our screens is nearly over.
Tanisha, who plays Dev’s daughter Asha, reassured fans while catching up with us on the red carpet at the British Soap Awards at the weekend.
Dev has been absent from our screens since February, when he had to leave Weatherfield to deal with a family emergency.
The corner shop owner was alarmed to hear that his auntie Gita had suffered a nasty fall, so he headed off to India to help take care of her.

In real life, Jimmi Harkishin – who plays Dev – went travelling but has now returned to filming.
Speaking to us, Tanisha enthused: “Yes, Jimmi’s back after his long-awaited return. He’s seen the world, doing everything that we all want to do!
“But he’s back now. He’s back filming and he’s back busy. It’s really good to have him back. He is really like a father to me and it’s so nice to see his face around the building again.”
A show source told us that Jimmi returned to filming a while ago, so there shouldn’t be too long to wait before we see Dev back again.

When Dev left the cobbles, he hoped that his partner Bernie Winter would join him for the trip.
Bernie refused, insisting that it was the wrong time to leave her daughter Gemma following the tragic loss of Paul.
Since then, Bernie’s life has certainly been eventful as she’s discovered her long-lost grandson following the revelation that newcomer Brody Michaelis is Kit Green’s son.
She was also recently kidnapped by evil thug Mick Michealis, who used her as a pawn in his desperate revenge mission against Kit.
The British Soap Awards 2025 took place at London’s Hackney Empire on Saturday night (31 May).
The ceremony airs this Thursday (5 June) at 8pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
