Fans of Coronation Street were left shocked as actress Charlotte Jordan appeared on This Morning – minus the Northern accent she uses to play barmaid Daisy Midgeley.
Joining hosts Ben Shepherd, Cat Deeley and soap correspondent Sharon Marshall on the sofa yesterday, Charlotte shared details of her upcoming exit from the ITV soap opera.
The actress, who first appeared as Daisy in 2020, will depart Weatherfield in scenes airing later this week.
These explosive scenes come in the wake of her scheme to scam stepmother Jenny Connor (Sally Ann Matthews). Working with mum Christina Boyd (Amy Robbins), the devious pair set up a fake dating profile to convince Jenny to invest in her new man’s business.
Learning that her mum planned to double-cross her, Daisy helped Jenny to realise that she’d been played. And, as copper Kit Green (Jacob Roberts) arrested Christina, Daisy was left plotting her uncertain future.
Decision seemingly made, Daisy’s exit looms. However, as Charlotte talked viewers through the upcoming scenes, some were more distracted by the star’s surprising accent.

Born in Chobham, Surrey, Charlotte has a Southern accent – rather than the Manchester one she puts on to play Daisy.
‘I didn’t expect Daisy to sound like that! Great northern accent,’ wrote Tanyaargh on X as the interview aired.
‘What’s with the voice?’ asked mason_becc15973.
‘Her voice?!’ remarked a stunned Zi3105.
‘She suits the Manc accent that she acts with,’ noted catmeow0814.
‘Wow 😍 her natural voice/accent is so different to Daisy’s character voice!! Goes to show she is a fabulous actress ❤️🔥’ commented bestlittlefamalam, over on Instagram.
‘AM I ONLY JUST FINDING OUT SHES NOT NORTHERN?!!!’ exclaimed bobafarm193.

Those listening to what Charlotte was actually saying will have learned what the actress has lined up after her departure.
‘I do feel excited, it’s a fresh start,’ she said.
‘I feel like I’ve done a lot of soapy things. I’ve done the check list. [Coronation Street] have been really good to me and it just feels like a new beginning.’
However, she’s not entirely done with the world of soap yet – and will go on to voice a character in the Radio 4 drama The Archers.

‘Yes, I am. I am joining The Archers, which is really fun,’ she said, when promoted by Sharon.
‘I start very soon, I can’t say very much about it, but the character will ruffle some feathers. That’s what I can say.’
It remains to be seen (or heard!) if Charlotte will be using her own accent or whether she’ll be delving into rural farmer speak for the role.
