Coronation Street shares another worrying update on James Bailey’s partner Danny Tomlinson in Thursday’s episode.
James’s sister Dee-Dee reveals the latest news after her brother flies back to the US to be at Danny’s side following a nasty accident.
Wednesday’s episode (April 2) ended with the alarming revelation that Danny had been involved in a car crash in America, where he’s been living with James.
This came just as Dee-Dee had handed over her newborn daughter Laila to James, who’s been looking to start a family with Danny.

The formal arrangements had yet to be made, so the shocking news about Danny’s accident threatened to change everything.

In Thursday’s episode, it’s confirmed that James has rushed back to America to support Danny, leaving Laila behind for now.
Dee-Dee is shocked when she hears the news from her father Ed, who has agreed to look after Laila on a short-term basis until everything is sorted out.
Before long, the inevitable happens as Dee-Dee is forced to look after Laila when Ed gets called away on a job.

This is the last thing that Dee-Dee wants, as she has already raised her concerns over potentially growing attached to the baby and then having to give her away.
When it all gets too much, Dee-Dee calls her friends Alya Nazir and Sarah Barlow round to the flat to support her.
After excusing herself to take a call from James, Dee-Dee tells her pals: “Danny’s in a critical condition, so they’ve put him in an induced coma.”
Asked what this means for James and Laila, Dee-Dee replies: “I didn’t want to push him on that. But if it’s as bad as it sounds, I can’t see him taking her for the foreseeable.”

Channique Sterling-Brown, who plays Dee-Dee, recently spoke about the challenges ahead for her character now that Laila will be much closer to home than expected.
Asked how Dee-Dee will cope, Channique told us: “I don’t think she will! It’ll be really interesting. You’re going to see that turmoil for Dee-Dee – she’s torn and completely broken again. We thought it couldn’t get any worse for her, but it does.
“Dee-Dee is running on empty and is then faced with having to look at her own child. She really thought that she’d done the right thing and she wouldn’t be immediately confronted with the baby, but now she is.
“It really is a huge thing for her to wrap her head around. I think she is going to struggle with that.”
Coronation Street airs these scenes tonight at 9pm on ITV1, or the episode is available to watch right now on ITVX.
