It’s been a couple weeks, but we’re finally getting back to Tate and Sophia’s baby drama on Days of Our Lives. When last we saw them, they were working out a plan to convince Sophia’s parents (and particularly, her pushy mom) to let them find a worthy couple to adopt the coming tot. And now we’re finally getting back to it and, well, viewers are probably noticing that Sophia is looking a bit different now!

We learned at the beginning of the year that Madelyn Kientz was leaving and Rachel Boyd was stepping into Sophia’s increasingly pregnant shoes. Though to be fair, since this story started, viewers have been unsure of just how far this pregnancy would go. The abortion was stopped, but Tate and Sophia are still hopeful to talk her mom into getting onboard with an adoption.

That’s one option, but, as horrible as it may be, we can’t ignore the reality that soap operas often resort to a miscarriage if they want the drama of a pregnancy without going through with a baby. Usually, though, that seems to happen before the baby bump even starts showing — like with Chanel and Johnny’s recent loss.

But now that Boyd has begun, we’ve gotten a glimpse of Sophia and her own baby bump down the line, thanks to a video interview with Young Hollywood over on Instagram. And Sophia’s not just clearly pregnant in the behind-the-scenes look we get, but she’s far enough along to warrant a wheelchair! There’s no word on when the scenes will be airing (which you can check out below), but as of today, Sophia isn’t quite there yet.

It still seems somewhat unfathomable for Tate and Sophia to become parents as teenagers still in high school — but there’s still plenty of time for another shoe to drop. If Sophia does end up having the baby and they are able to put it up for adoption, somehow, we have a feeling that won’t be the end of the story!

As for Boyd, she shares with Young Hollywood that she was one of the initial actresses to audition for the role back when it was created. She got a callback, but ultimately, as we know, it went to Kietz. But eight months later, Days of Our Lives still remembered Boyd’s audition, and the next thing she knew, she was stepping onto those Salem sets as Sophia!

We’re excited to have her join the show and can’t wait to see what’s in store for Holly, Tate, Sophia, and even her mom, Amy! Because right now, it looks like one way or another, this baby is coming. Whether Tate and Sophia are ready or not.
