It looks like we’re about to get some new faces for two of Salem’s youngest troublemakers. Because Days of Our Lives is recasting both Rachel and Sophia for
the new year!
Per TV Insider, Madelyn Kientz — who has been playing Holly’s sometime frenemy Sophia since she appeared earlier this year — will end her run on January 27, with daytime newcomer Rachel Boyd taking over two weeks later on February 12. Boyd, though, isn’t unfamiliar with soapy drama, having done shows like Freeform’s The Bold Type, and Netflix’s teen drama, Grand Army.
It’s a heck of a time for a recast, now that Sophia’s pregnant and we’ve finally met her very determined mom, who’s intent on pushing her daughter to not only have this baby, but do it while married to the tot’s father, Tate! Things seem pretty hopeless for the teens right now, though realistically, while Mrs. Choi can refuse to grant her daughter permission for an abortion, she can’t exactly force anyone to marry.
And on April 24th, Salem’s getting a new Rachel as Alice Halsey takes over the role from Finley Rose Slater who’s been playing her since 2021. Currently, Halsey is voicing Kat and Ellie on Disney Junior’s Kindergarten: The Musical. Visit Advertiser website
According to TV Insider, Rachel’s set to go missing soon, and we’re guessing the actress switch will come after Brady and Kristen’s precocious daughter returns. As to why she disappears, that’s anyone’s guess. Now that we know she’s behind Ava’s threatening texts, mom and dad could find out and quietly ship her off to get help somewhere.
Or there’s always Arnold. Now that he’s messing around in the DiMera’s business, we could see him ending up backed into a corner and grabbing the easiest hostage to get out of it: Rachel.
There’s no word on what prompted the pair of recasts, but we wish Kientz and Slater all the best, and are sure Boyd and Halsey will fit right in!
