On the beautiful side of this emotional journey, Bo Brady (Peter Reckell) is set to be reunited with his family, miraculously emerging from his coma after receiving a critical dose of Versavix. This life-saving treatment was only possible thanks to his dear friend, John Black, who selflessly managed to secure it before being tragically overcome by the explosion that will ultimately claim his own life. The threads of life and death, sacrifice and salvation, are inextricably woven together in this poignant narrative.
However, before Bo can fully return to the land of the living in the Monday, June 2nd episode, he is destined for a profound encounter. He is set to “visit” with his deceased son, Zack, in what appears to be a heavenly realm. This isn’t the first time Zack has appeared to his parents; actor Scott Shilstone last played the adult version of the role back in 2022 during the Peacock limited series, Days of Our Lives Beyond Salem Chapter Two, when Bo came to rescue Hope from heaven and hell and met up with Zack. Shilstone also played the adult-version of Zack in 2016 during a special episode where Hope was “reunited” with her son. But this time, Zack will look different, as actor Brandon Butler is taking over the beloved role.
Could Zack’s ethereal presence be the final, crucial push that allows Bo to finally wake up? Will Bo have an emotional, temporary farewell with his son, a bittersweet acknowledgment that they will see each other again years down the line in the afterlife? The teasers hint at a deeply moving exchange, a moment of profound connection that transcends the boundaries of life and death, providing Bo with the strength to return to his waiting family. 
Days fans know the deep sorrow surrounding Zack’s story. He was tragically killed as a little boy back in 2006 when his half-sister Chelsea (Rachel Melvin) accidentally hit him with Bo’s SUV. His untimely death sent a devastating ripple effect through Bo and Hope’s relationship for years, a wound that never truly healed. This visit will be a powerful moment of closure, and perhaps, a final source of inspiration for Bo.
As for the new actor stepping into Zack’s shoes, Brandon Butler brings a noteworthy resume to the role. His previous TV credits include compelling performances in Netflix’s 13 Reasons Why, the intriguing Hysteria!, the teen drama Trinkets, and the action-packed SEAL Team, to name but a few. He also had a one-episode appearance on General Hospital back in 2016. Butler’s experience in emotionally charged roles suggests he is well-equipped to handle the gravitas and tenderness required for this pivotal scene.
The next week’s promo for DAYS powerfully features the heartbreaking loss of John Black, a true icon of Salem, juxtaposed with the new lease on life for Bo Brady.
