Sarah Platt (Tina O’Brien) gets involved in a tricky situation in Coronation Street soon when she tries to help out a friend and finds herself accused of having an affair.
Todd Grimshaw (Gareth Pierce) recently met a man called Theo Silverton (James Cartwright) and it was clear that there was a mutual attraction between them.
It was also clear that Theo was not as comfortable with his sexuality as Todd was, as an early encounter saw him fleeing from the Grimshaws’ house not wanting to be caught there, despite Todd insisting his family were very relaxed and accepting.
Obviously Theo had something to hide, and that thing was his wife Danielle and their two teenage children. This came as a shock to Todd, but despite this bombshell the two men keep being drawn back together.
In scenes airing soon, Sarah is in the bistro waiting to meet Kit (Jacob Roberts) for a date. She starts chatting to Todd, but they’re both spotted by Danielle.
Theo has previously told his wife that Sarah is Todd’s girlfriend and when Danielle invites them to join her and Theo at their table they play along with this deception – with Todd even planting a kiss on Sarah’s lips mainly for Theo’s benefit.
Danielle quickly realises Weatherfield is a complicated place…
Something that puzzles Danielle, however, is that Sarah is soon joined by Kit and seems to be flirting with him. She talks to George (Tony Maudsley) about how Sarah was flirting with another man behind Todd’s back and George is amused by the idea. He tells her that Sarah and Todd can’t be an item because Todd is gay.
Danielle is puzzled about what’s going on, but when she sees Sarah with her arm around Theo – in fact consoling him for the mess he’s in with Todd – she jumps to a new conclusion. When she sees Sarah and Todd in the cafe later she marches in an accuses Sarah of having an affair with Theo.

Sarah is in a terrible position. She can’t deny the accusation outright without saying something that could make Danielle guess that it’s Todd that Theo has been seeing behind her back.
Later, when Danielle once again sees Sarah in the cafe, this time on her own, and repeats her accusations, demanding to know where Theo is, Sarah has had enough. She tells Danielle that she should really be talking to her husband about what’s going on.
So Danielle heads to the factory – where Todd and Theo have just agreed to stay out of each other’s way from now on. A plan that hasn’t exactly gone well on the other occasions they’ve agreed to it.
