Coronation Street‘s George Shuttleworth is left with relationship concerns next week, after Julie Carp reveals Eileen Grimshaw’s secret dissatisfaction with their romance.
Eileen is already having some serious doubts about George – and despite reassuring Julie that she’s happy to stick with him after all, it’s not long before they creep back in.
When Eileen slips over in the kitchen and has to take a trip to A&E, she’s irritated when George says he’s too busy to drive her and asks Brian Packham to accompany her instead.
“This is just another addition to a long list of doubts for Eileen,” our Corrie source confirms
“She feels as though the spark has gone from her relationship, and that George isn’t making the same effort that he used to – him not making time to support her when she’s injured just confirms this.”
Later, Brian visits No.11 with a wheelchair for a Rovers trip with Julie, who is visibly in pain despite putting on a brave face.
While at the pub, Julie blabs Eileen’s secret to George, telling him that she’s grown bored with their relationship, and he needs to make more romantic effort as a partner…

“George is absolutely gutted,” our insider adds.
“Only a few days before, George had told Eileen that he couldn’t imagine living without her. He thought they were solid, but this revelation makes him question everything.”
Will George be able to step up and win back Eileen’s affections? And will Julie’s loose lips cause a feud to brew between the sisters during what precious time she has left?
Whatever happens, we know this story is building up to an emotional departure for Eileen after 25 years in the show, while George is sticking around on the cobbles.
Coronation Street airs these scenes on Friday 2 May on ITV1 and ITVX.
