As Dylan adjusts to life in the STC this week, it has been a thought-provoking change of scene for actor Liam McCheyne, who plays the troubled boy.
“I remember walking on that set for the first time, and it was a real eye-opener to think that there really are 16 or 17-year-old lads in places like this for a long period of time,” said the star.
With Dylan having been sentenced to six months in the facility, he is happy to have made a friend in fellow inmate Brody. But as events play out this week, will Brody turn out to be a friend or foe to the youngster?
“Well, Dylan is very easily led…” Liam hinted, as he joined Inside Soap for a chat about his character’s latest woes…
Hi Liam! How is Dylan finding life in the STC?
Well, he’s struggling, to be honest, and he’s really gone into his shell. Every time Dylan gets into trouble, he’s out of his depth! He’s found it tough – as any lad his age would. He has made a friend in Brody and I think he finds it reassuring that there’s somebody there who wants to help him.
But he just can’t seem to stay out of trouble, can he? This week we see him caught sharing a joint with Brody…
Dylan’s never done anything like that before, so he’s very apprehensive at first when Brody offers it to him. However, he just feels he needs to fit in in order to survive, so that’s why he ends up going along with it.
It’s been great. We did have a laugh, however, as they film differently on Hollyoaks, so on Ryan’s first day we did two scenes in two hours, and he couldn’t believe it worked so quickly here. I was like, “Yep, get used to it!”
