Coronation Street has hinted at a surprising new direction for Tim and Sally Metcalfe.
New scenes on the soap will explore a fostering storyline for the couple, who had previously taken in Mason Radcliffe in the weeks before he died.
In the new scenes due to air next Friday (April 11), Hope overhears Sally and Tim discuss the idea of fostering and not wanting to take in a child like her, which spurs Hope on to take revenge.
Cassie sends Hope and Ruby off to the cinema so that she is able to spend the afternoon alone with Steve.
Later, while Sally and Tim continue to speak about their plans, Hope gets her revenge by throwing a water-filled balloon over the fence, as Sally turns round to see her and Ruby filming the prank.

Hope and Ruby then head home, only to find Cassie and Steve undressed, and Hope tells Cassie that she and Steve should keep quiet about what they’ve been doing – but will they do so?
Meanwhile, Sally is having some reservations about fostering, though Tim secretly books himself in for an information session on fostering.

Mason was looked after by the couple recently, though was later fatally stabbed by brothers Matty and Logan in violent scenes in January, the character dying in hospital after being treated by paramedics.
Speaking after his exit, star Luca Toolan said: “Of course when I first heard, there was a mixture of emotions because I was sad that Mason was going to die and that means I would be leaving – but equally I was really excited and honoured to be part of this storyline because it’s an incredibly important issue that needs to be tackled.”
