CORONATION Street fans have been left in shock after discovering that Cait Fitton was once a finalist on Britain’s Got Talent.
The actress, who was at the heart of some of the soap’s most dramatic storylines last year, leaned into a very different talent before making her mark on the cobbles.
Cait first appeared in Corrie as troubled teen Lauren Bolton in 2022.
Her journey on the soap has been a difficult one, as she had to grapple with her father Reece Bolton (Scott Anson) and his extremist tendencies, and more recently survived a brutal attack by abuser Joel Deering (Calum Lill).
In a major twist last year, she was revealed to have killed Joel, sparking a whodunnit storyline as the police scrambled to figure out who was responsible for the solicitor’s death.
However, what many viewers didn’t realise is that before landing her Coronation Street role, Cait was a member of the sign-language choir Sign Along With Us on Britain’s Got Talent in 2020.
The group made it to the final of the reality show with their emotional rendition of This Is Me from The Greatest Showman.
Despite winning audiences over with their touching performance, the choir was pipped to the post by comedic pianist and singer Jon Courtenay.
But Cait’s talent clearly didn’t go unnoticed, as just two years later, she secured a role on one of the UK’s biggest soaps.
Fans only recently discovered Cait’s BGT past after a video of her audition resurfaced on TikTok.
One stunned viewer took to social media, sharing: “Omg I didn’t realise that was her!”
Another admitted: “The way I’ve watched their audition 100s of times and never realised Cait was in the group, she’s so incredibly talented!”

Other fans expressed their disbelief, with one exclaiming: “No way! I had no clue it was her, now I can see it.”
While it’s possible that Cait could have had a future as a singer rather than an actress, she has previously admitted that it was her childhood dream to feature on the ITV soap she stars in now.
She told the Sun: “The teacher asked us, ‘What do you want to be when you’re older?’ Children were saying ‘a fireman’ or ‘a nurse’, and I said, ‘I want to be in Coronation Street’.
“I remember all the teachers were amused, they couldn’t believe it. I watched it religiously.”
