The truth about Kathy Beale’s (Gillian Taylforth) illicit romance with Harvey Monroe (Ross Boatman) comes out in explosive fashion in EastEnders next week after the worst possible person uncovers their secret.
With a spark first ignited between them last year, Kathy and Harvey recently embarked upon a full-blown affair as his partner Jean Slater (Gillian Wright) pushed him away as her family came to terms with Martin Fowler’s (James Bye) death.
Unfortunately for the lovers, forthcoming scenes will see none other than Kathy’s long-time enemy Cindy Beale (Michelle Collins) find out about their shenanigans – and you best believe that she isn’t going to keep quiet about it.
Fans saw Cindy make a shock return on Monday, having fled Walford back in February following a huge showdown with Kathy and ex-husband Ian Beale (Adam Woodyatt).
The trio bitterly clashed after Cindy had found out it was Kathy who attacked her and left her for dead after her own affair with Junior Knight (Micah Balfour) was exposed at Christmas.
While she has been away, Cindy has been biding her time for revenge and the coming days will see her reveal Kathy as her attacker to the rest of the Beale and Knight families. But Cindy soon has an even bigger opportunity to destroy Kathy’s life when she catches her with Harvey.
Next week begins with Harvey planning to go on a camping trip with Jean and the rest of the Slaters, but it is thwarted by the ongoing tension between Lily (Lillia Turner) and Stacey (Lacey Turner).
Amid the family chaos, Jean unexpectedly proposes to a stunned Harvey, who fails to find an answer. Just as Harvey then readies himself to tell Jean everything, a miscommunication leads her to believe he accepts her proposal.
As celebrations begin at the Slaters’, Harvey sneaks off to see Kathy, and the lovers share a kiss – but unbeknown to them, Cindy is watching and has recorded it all.
Later in the week, the Beales put on a welcome home party for Lauren Branning (Jacqueline Jossa) and Peter Beale’s (Thomas Law) newborn baby at The Vic, but are none too impressed when a smug Cindy gatecrashes the celebrations.
