Emmerdale has aired an ominous cliffhanger involving John Sugden, with the events having ramifications for Tracy Robinson.
John has been a popular figure since arriving in the Dales last year, though his friendly exterior belies a dark set of characteristics, which have mostly gone unnoticed.
It was eventually revealed that the doctor had been orchestrating events to satisfy his own hero complex, and was unveiled as the person responsible for Nate Robinson’s death.
After the police recently discovered Nate’s body in the lake, the village has been scrambling for evidence regarding a potential culprit, and John was unable to answer questions as he was on his honeymoon with Aaron Dingle.

Monday’s (9 June) episode began with John promptly being asked to head to the station for questioning. Tracy, meanwhile, was steadfast in her belief that Cain Dingle was responsible for Nate’s murder.
After John returned following the interrogation, he reunited with Aaron and Cain as Tracy walked through the village. The group engaged in a tense conversation, with Cain accusing Tracy of the crime following her repeated accusations towards him.
Tracy was stunned, and pleaded with Belle Dingle to keep the noise out before leaving heartbroken. Belle served as a “peacemaker” of sorts later on as she checked in on Tracy, though the latter ordered her to leave as she remained adamant that Cain was guilty.

John, meanwhile, attempted to ease Cain’s worries, assuring him that the police had little reason to suspect him. As Cain expressed his grief, John urged him to be there for his children in this testing time.
Naturally, the villain had something else on his mind, and he looked at at Tracy’s house as he remarked that the police would soon turn their eyes elsewhere. Given the fact that John is in possession of Nate’s phone, one can guess where he’ll plant it…
