Emmerdale’s latest episode, available on ITV X, introduced viewers to the cheeky delivery driver Romeo who stirred up trouble in the village.
The drama unfolded when Vinny Dingle and Kammy Hadiq caught Romeo trying to charm Gabby Thomas, Vinny’s fiancée, who wittily dismissed him by mocking his name’s “irony”.
Despite Gabby’s rejection, the banter escalated as Vinny and Kammy playfully quoted Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet to tease the persistent Romeo.
Romeo, clearly tired of the references, retorted: “Like I’ve not heard that a thousand times!” leading Vinny to remind him: “You do know me and Gabby are engaged don’t you?”.
Unfazed, Romeo quipped back: “Clearly not up to much if she’d settle for you. Plus, she’s got a sprog in tow, clearly been around a bit! So… a plague on both your houses, act three, scene one, you sarky little git!”, reports Leicestershire Live.
Kammy was incensed by Romeo’s disrespectful comments about Gabby and urged Vinny to take action, which led them to concoct a plan for revenge.
Later, Romeo’s advances were rebuffed by Mandy Dingle, Vinny’s mother, an encounter overheard by the plotting duo.
In a twist of fate, Kammy swiped Romeo’s keys, and he and Vinny took off with his van, hoping to profit from its contents, only to find nothing of value and the police close behind, forcing them to abandon their scheme.
Soap enthusiasts are sure to recognise the familiar face of Romeo star Jacob Butler, who’s no stranger to our screens having graced many recent television series.
The talented actor featured in It’s A Sin in 2021 as Benjamin, took on roles such as Kieran Manning in The Bay in 2022, joined Coronation Street as Mr Goodson in 2023, and appeared in Doctors playing Kyle Dawson in 2024.
Meanwhile, Friday’s episode saw hilarity ensue when, after evading the police, Kammy decided to play a prank on Vinny by mock-arresting him, which resulted in a comical fall.
The prank led to a surprising moment where Vinny leaned in for a kiss with Kammy, who rebuffed him. A confused Kammy asked, “Are you?” prompting Vinny to awkwardly respond, saying: “No, no, I’m engaged aren’t I?” only to receive a witty retort from Kammy: “Alright, keep it chill, if I were you, I’d want to kiss me too!”.
The two brushed off the incident and set off to grab a bite to eat just as Gabby walked up, leaving Vinny feeling rather embarrassed.
In a cheeky twist, Kammy, who had recently admitted to pinching Clemmie’s new mobile from Home Farm, joked: “If only she knew where that mouth’s nearly been… I’m joking man, chill, it were nothing! We’re all good, aren’t we?” and then casually strolled off.
