Amid things like a missing gun and grieving a baby, fans of General Hospital have bigger concerns: Lois’ new voice.
Since her 1993 arrival to Port Charles, Lois (Rena Sofer) has been known for two things: extravagant nails and a big Brooklyn accent. Her late
2023 return offered long-time GH fans nostalgia when she came back with long colorful nails and that familiar accent echoing through the
Quartermaine Mansion.

But since becoming the new Face of Deception, there’s been one thing standing in the way of Lois’ confidence: her voice.
After a Home & Heart viewer called in with insults about her voice and accent, she let the negative comments get the best of her to the point where she allowed Tracy (Jane Elliot) to hire a dialect coach to help her change her iconic voice, stunning those around her with the sudden 180 in the way she speaks.
Fan Feedback
While that Home & Heart (find out how to score your own Home & Heart products!) viewer couldn’t see the charm in Lois’ voice, fans of GH have much worse things to say about the decision to rid Lois of her accent.
“Lois accent change is stupid. She can just change her voice during Home & Heart,” one fan harshly put it on X (formerly Twitter).
Not to mention Lois’ new voice sounds forced as heck. I know the actress has been faking the Brooklyn accent for years but I hope the plain real voice will relax soon,” another had to say on X.
One viewer commented on the longevity of Lois’ notable accent. “I don’t really like the voice storyline for Lois. She has had that accent forever. Why change it now?”
Another speculated about potentially finding out that the caller who first hated on Lois’ voice was someone we all know. “Will we find out on Monday that the rude caller who hated Lois’ accent was Tracy using a voice changing app?”
