Joe Tate outlined his exit strategy on Emmerdale as he narrowed down his search for a kidney donor.
Joe has been up to no good ever since his return to the Dales last year, with the schemer targeting several people in the village. It was eventually revealed that he is suffering from a chronic kidney disease, for which he is being treated by the dodgy Dr Crowley.
His targets – which included his half-brother Noah – were selected to test their suitability regarding a possible transplant, though Joe and Crowley weren’t necessarily planning this in the most legal of ways.

After discovering that Ross Barton would be the new Head of Security at the family farm, Joe met with Crowley to discuss their plan regarding Caleb, though he did remark that Ross could pose a problem.
Joe and Ross’s feud continued at the home after Joe made plans to continue his affair with Dawn, who was beginning to worry that they may be caught out. Caleb, meanwhile, was growing increasingly anxious around Jai due to his own personal issues.
Joe met with Crowley again, with the doctor saying that the procedure was due to take place in two days’ time. As the pair discussed the finer details of their plan, Crowley ordered that Caleb be delivered to the facility in an unconscious state.

Furthermore, he reminded Joe that it was paramount for him to leave the village following the surgery, with the would-be patient stating that “nothing would get in [his] way” as Crowley urged him to “disappear into the mist”.
After both Caleb and Dawn subsequently remarked that Joe was looking under the weather, will he be able to enact his plan and leave without a hint of suspicion?
