Emmerdale star Roxy Shahidi believes the ITV soap’s epic limo crash stunt “will go down in Emmerdale history”.
In Emmerdale‘s shocking Valentine’s Day episode, Shahidi’s character Leyla Harding was among the 17 villagers who travelled in two limos for a night out, which both ended up crashing during the journey.
The crash left several lives hanging in the balance, with the aftermath set to air on screens next week.
Shahidi has now said that the crash is “one of the most exciting shoots” she’s ever been a part of during her 16 years on Emmerdale.
“Obviously, they’ve pulled out all the stops,” she said. “I’m guessing a hell of a lot of money must have been spent, as it is a really epic stunt. I think it really will go down in Emmerdale history without a doubt.”
The actor continued: “But I think the thing that was most enjoyable for me was the camaraderie on set. It was such a fantastic, gorgeous group of girls that I was working with.
“It was just a really lovely atmosphere. So supported, so loving and we just had a fantastic time.”
The crash saw one of the limos plunge into an icy lake, putting the passengers in grave danger.
“It was so real I felt cold just looking at it,” Shahidi said of the lake that was created for the scene. “They covered the carpark in wax but there were holes dug in it. So there were massive holes in it – that people could actually fall in.
“And they got the car with its passengers to break through this wax surface layer and then slip down under. I just don’t know how they did it – it is beyond my knowledge – all I know is it looked really good.
“When I arrived saw the set the moon was out and reflecting off the ice – it was just stunning.”
