Emmerdale star Rebecca Sarker has opened up about her future on the soap.
The actor, who portrays Dr Manpreet Sharma, assured The Sun that she hasn’t had “the seven-year itch” after signing on to the series in 2018.
“I still love playing Manpreet just as much as I did when I joined,” Sarker told the publication.
“I love the fact every time I get a new story, it’s something completely different and it introduces another facet to her character. She is never one-dimensional.”
Confirming that she has no plans to leave Emmerdale in the future, the TV star added that her character Manpreet “has more to offer” and noted that if her “time ever comes up,” she can say she was “proud” to have been a part of the soap.
Currently, Sarker is in the throes of an unexpected storyline, after Manpreet and Ruby Miligan decided to put their feud aside and become friends in episodes that aired last week.
Following a confrontation that got out of hand at Caleb’s Depot, the duo were forced to spend a night in custody together, and it was in the police station that they finally made amends, with Ruby opening up about her traumatic relationship with her father, Anthony Fox.
Following an emotional heart-to-heart, Ruby called Manpreet her “friend” just moments after they shared a hug, and the two left the prison station together.
With Ruby and Manpreet now on good terms, Emmerdale has promised some tough times ahead for Robert. In episodes airing next week (18-22 August), an upset Robert finally gives in to his feelings for ex-husband Aaron and cheats on John.
