Emmerdale actor Jurell Carter has landed another new project following his exit from
the soap.
Shortly after his final scenes as Cain Dingle’s son Nate Robinson aired in September, the
actor revealed that he landed a job doing the voiceover for the Sephora Christmas
adverts.
It’s now been confirmed that Carter has landed another new role, with the actor set to star in a UK touring production of Boys from the Blackstuff (via What’s on Stage).
Adapted by James Graham from Alan Bleasdale’s 1982 drama of the same name, the stage play is set in 1980s Liverpool and follows a group of five unemployed men as they “navigate a system that offers little hope”.
Carter will play one of the five men, Loggo, with the group rounded out by George Caple as Chrissie, Jay Johnson as Yosser, Ged McKenna as George, and Mark Womack as Dixie.
Other cast members include Amber Blease, Reiss Barber, Kyle Harrison-Pope, Sean Kingsley, Jamie Peacock, Sian Polhill-Thomas, Graham Elwell, Elliot Kingsley and Victoria Oxley.
The production, which is directed by Kate Wasserberg, will kick off at Theatre Royal Windsor on January 29, 2025. It will then stop off in Richmond, Bromley, Bath, Blackpool, Glasgow, Birmingham, Liverpool, Cheltenham, Derby, Salford, Guildford, Leeds, Newcastle, Colchester, Doncaster, Stoke, Brighton, Canterbury and Mold, before concluding at Theatr Clwyd in July. Tickets for next year’s show can be purchased here.
Meanwhile, following his exit from Emmerdale, Carter revealed that leaving the soap was a conscious career choice.
“I feel like I’ve reached the point where it’s now or never. If I don’t do it now, I’ll always be wondering ‘what if?’ I just didn’t want that feeling,” he said at the time. “I feel like five years is the perfect time for me as an actor to try and move onto something else.”
