After it was revealed that Robert Sugden and Aaron Dingle would be taking over Butler’s Farm, many fans and former stars of Emmerdale have expressed joy at the ITV soap returning to its roots.
One actor who isn’t best pleased, however, is Natalie J Robb. After all, her character, Moira Dingle, was put in an impossible situation given her current situation, and begrudgingly sold her share of the farm to Kim Tate.
As the Tates have their new project, the Dingles are very much in the thick of the drama; not only is Moira coming to terms with her life behind bars, but her husband Cain was recently diagnosed with prostate cancer.
The various developments have meant that Robb has spent a larger amount of time away from the farm set, and the actor shared that this was a particularly gut-wrenching aspect of Moira’s storyline.
“I was gutted when I found out, I’m not going to lie,” she told The Mirror. “I’ve been there day-to-day. I have always loved working on that set but on the flip side, you embrace the change as well.
“The show is going back to the old roots with the Tates, Dingles and Sugdens. There’s a lot of new stories that could come from that. All good things come to an end. It does feel a little bit odd but we are producing some good stuff at the minute.”

Robb, who has been on the soap since 2009, also spoke about Moira’s time behind bars, with the star explaining that the trials and tribulations would lead to a “rebirth” of sorts further down the line.
“I think prison makes her a bit harder,” said the actor. “The way she presents herself is going to change a bit, because she’s had everything taken away from her. So the things that she didn’t really bother with, she’s going to actually do now.
“She’s going to have a bit of a rebirth in that sense… When she’s out, she’s going to be around people all of a sudden and that can feel weird, because you’ve just been on your own for ages and you’ve not had the same chain of chaos as you used to have.”
Robb isn’t the only Emmerdale star to comment on the big developments at Butler’s Farm, with former players such as Kelvin Fletcher, Adam Thomas, Jeff Hordley and Lyndon Ogbourne all sharing their thoughts.
