Infidelity is in the air in Emmerdale, with Laurel Thomas (Charlotte Bellamy) having tried to kiss Marlon Dingle (Mark Charnock), and Cain (Jeff Hordley) cheating on his beloved wife Moira Dingle (Natale J Robb) while she was having brain surgery. But there’s a brand-new adulterer in the Emmerdale village.
In a slightly shocking, but not entirely surprising, move, Dawn Taylor (Olivia Bromley) snogged Joe Tate (Ned Porteous) during an intense moment together.
She was in a heightened emotional state having accidentally overdosed Kim Tate (Claire King) on ketamine while on a hair-brained mission to get her to confess to killing Will Taylor (Dean Andrews).
As Joe tried to reassure her that all was ok now that Kim wasn’t dead, she kissed him.
Since Joe came back on the scene, Dawn has been gunning for him. But with love and hate being such a fine line, it was clear that there was some kind of chemistry there.
Their kiss confirmed that, but though they both immediately shook it off and swore it was a one-time thing, it certainly won’t be. Poor Billy Fletcher (Jay Kontzle).
Perhaps the writing has been on the wall for Dawn’s marriage. With Billy lying heavily about his involvement in illegal fights, and wracking up debt, then with him refusing to put the family first when they became homeless, it’s not been looking good for this couple.
Added to that, he’s been less supportive than Joe through her grief. Signs that all is not well for these two.
But having lost her dad, Dawn is now in her self-care era and is putting herself first. Kim makes her an offer to work for Home Farm Estates to fast track her career, and Dawn can’t accept the offer fast enough.
But when she learns Joe is her new boss, the generous offer is tainted as she believes he is behind it.
Dawn confronts Joe and their exchange becomes fiery – the perfect segue into an impassioned embrace and a fumble under the sheets. The two cross the line and the guilt of that initial kiss is a long-forgotten memory.
