In this week’s biggest soap news, Emmerdale gave fans a sneak peek at the months ahead with some special flashforward scenes.
Elsewhere, EastEnders announced a big-name return for the soap’s 40th anniversary, while Coronation Street fans heard whispers of potential comebacks for two fan favourites.
Did you miss any headlines this week? Don’t worry, as we’re on hand with our regular Sunday round-up of the major gossip from the past seven days.
Emmerdale played with time in the final episode of 2024, as five flashforward scenes teased some of the biggest storylines to come over the next few months.
Of course, there were more questions than answers. Cain was seen mourning at someone’s grave, while another scene showed a wrapped-up body being disposed of in a river.
Elsewhere, Caleb could be seen in a life-or-death situation at the hospital, Mackenzie was spotted frantically running through some woods, and someone found themselves desperate for help while trapped beneath ice.
With death and danger on the cards, it looks like 2025 could mark the end for some key characters – but were there any red herrings in the mix?
Emmerdale fans weren’t entirely convinced when Will Taylor was killed off on Boxing Day. Home Farm is known for its frequent back-from-the-dead twists, while actor Dean Andrews – who played Will – notably didn’t record a goodbye message for the ITV soap’s socials.
Dean set the record straight on his own Instagram page this week, confirming that he “wasn’t asked” to do a farewell clip for social media and Will definitely won’t be back on the show.
He explained: “There was a little conjecture as to whether Will was dead – he is dead, he’s gone. I’ve been left for around seven or eight weeks.
“I’d been there for around five-and-a-half years, and in that [time] I worked with some really lovely people – some amazing crew and my little family along the way have always been lovely to work with so I thoroughly enjoyed it. But it’s time to move on, and move on we shall.”
