Coronation Street boss Kate Brooks recently told us that the romantic complications between Daniel Osbourne (Rob Mallard), Bethany Platt (Lucy Fallon) and Daisy Midgley (Charlotte Jordan) are far from over and would be a major storyline going into 2025.
‘It’s a brilliant love triangle that keeps on giving and we will certainly carry that through December and into the new year,’ she said. ‘Daniel is in love with two women, that’s what it boils down to, he loves Bethany but he also loves Daisy, and not many people can pull that off – but if anyone can, a Barlow can!’
As we head towards Christmas, Daisy finds herself torn between wanting to move on and see what happens in her new romance with Kit Green (Jacob Roberts), while trying to ignore the fact that she obviously still has feelings for Daniel.
This becomes painfully clear when she goes for what’s supposed to be a romantic meal at Speed Daal with Kit, only to discover that Bethany and Daniel are also enjoying a cosy meal together – at the very next table.
On Christmas Day, Daniel has apparently decided what, and who, he wants – and gets down on one knee to propose to Bethany. If Daisy has been harbouring any hopes that she and Daniel might get back together, it looks like they’ve been seriously dashed.
In the days following, Sarah (Tina O’Brien) is disturbed to spot her daughter’s brand new fiancé and Daisy deep in conversation. As the pair talk, it’s not long before Daisy is reduced to tears and, clearly heartbroken, heads to the back room of the Rovers. Sarah follows her to try and find out what’s going on.
In the wake of Bethany and Daniel’s engagement, Daisy makes a difficult decision. When she and Daniel were engaged she became very close to his son, Bertie. After initially having reservations about becoming the little boy’s stepmum, Daisy was at one point overwhelmed when Bertie called her ‘Mummy.’ Gradually, however, her relationship with Bertie grew stronger.
