Coronation Street‘s DS Lisa Swain faces further suspicion in the Joel Deering murder mystery next week.
Lisa faces some awkward questions from her police colleague DC Kit Green after her phone is searched.
As we’ve previously revealed, this week’s episodes see Lisa initially arouse suspicion from her own daughter Betsy.
Betsy is confused when she spots that Lisa is hiding bruises and her mum keeps changing her story over how she got injured.
Tellingly, Lisa has a bottle of painkillers dated September 28 – the day after Joel’s murder. Betsy also smells a rat when she learns that Joel was in a fight on the evening that he died.
In follow-on scenes next week, it’s Kit’s turn to suspect that Lisa is keeping secrets related to the case.
Kit informs Lisa that an unsent message was found on her phone, which suggested that she wanted Joel dead shortly before he was killed.
Lisa is put on the spot when Kit asks her to confirm where she was on the night of Joel’s murder.
Later, Lisa tries to distract herself by purchasing some festival tickets for herself and Betsy.
Sadly, her afternoon is interrupted when she receives a stern message summoning her down to the station. Is it more bad news?
Joel’s body was found in the river earlier this month, two weeks after he’d mysteriously disappeared following his failure to appear in court.
A post-mortem confirmed that Joel was already dead when he hit the water, so the police opened up a murder investigation with Lauren Bolton, Max Turner, Mason Radcliffe and the Bailey family among the suspects.
Coronation Street airs these scenes on Monday, November 4, on ITV1 and ITVX.
