Coronation Street has unveiled the Platt family’s revamped home, but eagle-eyed fans were quick to spot one confusing detail with the grand reveal.
Loyal viewers will remember that No. 8 was the scene of a disastrous house fire earlier this year, instigated by Max Turner in a misguided attempt to aid David Platt.
David found himself deep in debt to mobster Harvey Gaskell after pilfering his cash, and Max thought that by setting the house ablaze, they could use the insurance money to settle the score with the gangster.
However, Max’s scheme backfired spectacularly when he was caught and arrested for arson, leading to a six-and-a-half-year prison sentence. Moreover, because the fire was deliberate, the insurance payout was voided.

In the meantime, David and his clan have been bunking with friends and relatives on the cobbles while their home underwent renovation, reports Belfast Live.
Now, Coronation Street has fully revealed the post-fire makeover of the house. On Tuesday night, the popular ITV soap took to Instagram to share: “A peek at some of the details inside a newly refurbished No.8!”
They further shared: “Production Designer Rosie gives us an insight into the thoughts behind the design: “The set was fully rebuilt following the fire over a 3 month period and with a real focus on David, Shona and Lily and their style and taste and with a definite influence of Audrey in some of the dressings with her now residing in the annex!
“The set is more open plan than before for a more modern way of living for the family with a contemporary breakfast bar and industrial influenced kitchen.

“There is an eclectic mix of household dressings and artwork reflecting the personalities in the family.
“With a fun twist the dining table converts into a pool table as David attempts to make his mark on the property. There are modern geometrics, dark greys and tan and orange tones.
“I liked the humour that David has finally got rid of Gail to be landed with Audrey in the annex who has insisted on her own recliner, her own front door (now off the hallway) and also bringing along her sentimental and very large portrait of the late Alf which has pride of place on the new set.

“David the dog is not overlooked either with some interesting artwork & touches focussed on his importance in the family too!
I love the Vin Diesel the weasel has also made it into the family home after being missing for a number of years.”
Soap fans were quick to praise the revamped look in the comments section, but they did have one gripe. Eagle-eyed viewers spotted an ironing board conspicuously placed in the sitting room, sparking debates about its storage.

One viewer remarked: “Absolutely gorgeous. But….. get rid of the ironing board. Looks out of place.”, while another suggested: “No one would have the ironing board on show”, and a third pointed out: “And still nowhere for the ironing board”. Meanwhile, a different fan noted: “All that work and they didn’t makes space in a cupboard for the ironing board.”
Yet, long-time viewers will remember that No. 8 has traditionally featured an ironing board in the sitting room, suggesting its presence is a nod to family heritage.
