Cat, Aaron and Felicity return from visiting their mom’s new apartment in the assisted living facility nearby. They are also glad Aaron is back in town, though he’s soon to be moving into the dorms.

Their talk briefly turns to Mark, whom they miss. Cat says his parole hearing is coming up soon, so hopefully he’ll be back with them soon. She tells them it’s time for their family fun time, and they head out to the mini-golf course.

Chad is shopping for school with Thomas in Horton Square. Thomas is sad, as he got into a fight with Rachel at the pool. He thought he was cheering her up by noting her mom wasn’t going to be gone forever.  Chad explains Rachel is going through a lot and has some big feelings, so he should be patient with her.

Marlena and Rachel stop by the pub to see Tate after some shopping. Rachel is down in the dumps, so he surprises her with a hot fudge sundae. She eats it, but it still doesn’t make her smile. Tate reveals he’s about to get off work and go on a fun adventure if she wants to tag along. That perks the girl up.

Rachel rushes off to wash her hands, and Marlena praises Tate, saying he’s so good with Rachel. He can relate to having a parent in prison. Marlena knows he’s been going through a lot, and she’s very proud of him.

Tate isn’t so proud of the mess he made of things with Sophia. He admits he thinks about his kid all the time, and he wishes he could see her and hold her. Marlena advises him that his feelings are normal and that he will be a magnificent father one day.

Family Fun Day at the Mini-Golf

Cat, Aaron and Felicity arrive at the mini-golf course. She sends them off to start, as she needs to find a pencil, which they were out of, to keep score with.

Chad and Thomas appear and run into Cat. Chad explains this is a back-to-school tradition for them, but Charlotte had a playdate. Cat relays that she’s here with Felicity and Aaron, and is trying to find a pencil to keep score. Chad sends Thomas to find the others, and he and Cat go in to look for a pencil.

Will Brady Get Answers About His Grandchild?

Brady meets with Patsy McGowan, an adoption attorney, to discuss his grandchild’s adoption. The woman doesn’t appear to recognize Tate’s name, so Brady spells out everything Tate and Sophia told him. They’re interrupted when Patsy gets a call, and she says she’ll call the person back.

Patsy changes her tune and says she can explain. Patsy says Tate isn’t her client and she never met him, but she did connect Sophia to the adoptive parents. He asks if his son’s child was a boy or a girl. She says it was a girl, as she’s sure he was told. He just wanted to verify the facts, as his son didn’t even get a copy of the adoption papers. He asks if he could have a copy, but she says she needs Sophia’s permission first.

What Does Marlena Surprise Brady With?

After his meeting, Brady runs into Marlena in Horton Square and thanks Marlena for taking Rachel to the pool and shopping. Marlena explains that Rachel and Thomas got into an argument at the pool, so Tate decided to take Rachel off on an adventure to cheer her up.

Marlena hands over a bag with Rachel’s new sneakers and a picture frame, which she thought he might like to put a photo of Kristen and Rachel together for her. Brady says she’d love that, and that was thoughtful of her, and he doesn’t know how they’d get through this without her.

More Fun at the Mini-Golf

Back at the mini-golf, Cat and Chad flirt a bit, when, surprise, surprise, Rachel and Tate show up. Rachel fears Thomas won’t be happy to see her, but Chad assures her that he will be, as they are not just friends, but family. Tate takes Rachel to find Thomas and apologize.

Chad tells Cat he needs to apologize to her for being a jerk about her job with EJ, as he knows she can take care of herself. He also admits he’s been on edge, as Jennifer and Jack are coming into town, and last time they weren’t happy they’d become friends. Cat suggests he just stay away from her, but he notes the universe keeps throwing them together.

Tate and Rachel run into Aaron, and Rachel heads to meet up with Felicity, who is a hole ahead with Thomas. Aaron and Tate are happy to see one another, and they talk about the baby and the adoption. They soon turn to discussing rooming together at Salem U, and eventually rejoin the others.

Aaron eventually finds Chad and Cat and tells them that everyone is waiting for them, and they regroup.

Once they have some alone time, Chad does a little dance when he gets a hole-in-one. Cat asks for a score update. Everyone is beating him except Rachel, and Cat the golf shark is beating them all. She offers to give him tips on his stance, and shows him what’s wrong, which of course brings them face-to-face close.

Trask Is Given a Warning

Back at the lawyer’s office, Melinda shows up, and Patsy says she cut it close there as Brady Black just left. She’s glad they got their stories straight. Patsy is always happy to help Melinda, whom she claims saved her life in the past. However, she worries they may have another problem.

Patsy says Brady wanted a copy of the adoption papers, and he questioned her about the baby’s gender. Melinda thanks her for the heads up and really thought Brady and Tate would have let this go.

What’s Troubling Marlena?

Marlena and Brady return home, and Brady offers to get her something for dinner, but Marlena insists she’s not hungry. She also lets him know she’s grateful he and Rachel are here, as it’s comforting. She then heads to bed early, and Brady seems concerned.

Tate returns early from golf, as Chad is going to bring Rachel home because she’s having fun with Thomas. Brady thanks him for looking out for his sister. Brady then shows Tate the picture frame from Marlena, and Tate is touched and had no idea Grandma had this picture. Brady doesn’t understand and looks at the photo in the frame.

In the Show’s Final Moments

Marlena stirs in bed, clearly having a nightmare. She is dressed as The Queen of the Night, being showered with riches by an unseen Stefano, and she keeps saying, “How do you do? It’s all so enticing. I can’t turn my back on my children and my family. They need me.”

At the golf course, Chad brings up their kiss, which he told Cat was just a dream while she was sick, and admits that it wasn’t a dream. Cat is very embarrassed, but his point is, he didn’t imagine that’s how they’d kiss for the first time, for real. They then lean in for a kiss.

Strolling through Horton Square, Trask calls Sophia and says they need to meet, and it’s important.

At home, Brady asks Tate what photo he’s talking about. Tate notes that the photo in the frame is of his baby and her adoptive parents. Brady has to point out it’s the stock photo that came with the frame… Clearly, the photo Sophia gave them was a stock photo as well.
