Coronation Street‘s Todd Grimshaw has stood up to Theo Silverton as part of their ongoing coercive control storyline.
What to Read Next
Since getting together earlier this year, Todd and Theo’s relationship has taken a dark turn after Theo began manipulating and asserting control over his partner.
At the end of Monday’s (September 1) episode, a drunken Theo threw some food Todd brought home for him on the floor before attempting to force feed him. He then storming off, saying he never wanted to see him again.
In today’s episode, Todd was still shaken from Theo’s behaviour. When he bumped into Sarah, they went to the pub and Todd tried to justify Theo’s mood swings, putting them down to his upbringing and family.
As a brooding Theo scrolled through his phone, he was left feeling furious after seeing a picture of Todd and Sarah in the pub.
When Billy approached and asked him if he was okay, Theo lost his temper and threatened him. “I just said do one,” Theo said before getting in Billy’s face.
Theo broke down and admitted to Billy that he had messed everything up, begging a cornered Billy to speak to Todd on his behalf.
“Please Billy I just want a conversation with him so I can explain and sort out this mess,” he said.
At the pub, Todd told Billy about Theo’s mood swings but failed to mention the violence. Theo apologised to Todd for letting his jealousy and anger get the better of him.
After going home to talk, Todd told Theo that his behaviour was unacceptable, saying he wanted him to leave while he thought things through.
When Theo refused to take accountability for his actions, Todd told him to leave. When Theo asked what he said wrong, Todd said: “Nothing. And that’s the problem. No clue how vile you were. How scared I was. No responsibility. At all. And I am sick of it. So go on, get out. I need time to think.”
Struggling to mask his anger, Theo left.
Sadly, Todd’s bold moment will be short-lived as recent spoilers for Friday’s episode confirm that Todd will warm to Theo once again.
