EastEnders‘ newcomer Alice Haig has revealed how her character Vicki Fowler’s previous actor responded to the surprise recasting.
The character was recently reintroduced to the BBC One soap after 20 years away from Albert Square, with Alice Haig now playing the role.
Between 2003 and 2004, Scarlett Alice Johnson played the character but declined to return.
However, speaking to The Sun, Haig revealed that her predecessor sent her some very nice words about the role.
“Scarlett sent me a beautiful email wishing me luck and being incredibly kind,” Haig said. “It was a lovely thing to get. She said it’s great fun playing Vicki Fowler and I couldn’t agree more.”

When Vicki’s recasting was announced, a spokesperson for Johnson said: “Scarlett was approached, and was flattered to be asked to return, but the timing wasn’t right for her to step back into the role. She wishes Alice Haig and the show all the very best.”
Since her return, Vicki has had a few dramatic reunions with various Square residents, especially when it was revealed that she cheated on her partner Spencer Moon and made out like he was the unfaithful one.

She arrived with her boyfriend Ross and his son Joel in tow, who’s already gotten into plenty of trouble. It was recently revealed that the youngster had filmed explicit videos without consent before moving to the Square.
Unfortunately, he did the same thing to Avani and is also being a very bad influence on Tommy.
How will Vicki deal with his bad behaviour?
