EastEnders has confirmed a big change for the show which will serve as an emotional tribute to Martin Fowler.
Back in February, Martin was killed following an explosion in The Vic after being crushed by a steel beam during the show’s live 40th anniversary episode.
Before his death, Martin owned Beales Fruit and Veg stall, which has been closed since it was burned down by his daughter Lily as she dealt with her grief.
It doesn’t look like Martin’s fruit and veg stall will be out of business for long though, and in scenes that will air next week, Ian toys with the idea of reopening the stall.

Following this, Ian shares his idea with Stacey and she eventually agrees that it will serve as a good legacy for the kids.
Also next week, Lauren Branning and Peter Beale will come to blows over Lauren’s kiss with Zack and Peter ends up hitting his love rival.
However, Peter is too busy to give Lauren any time to explain herself, as he is focussing on his first shift at the newly re-opened fruit and veg stall.

Speaking previously about his exit from the soap, Martin actor James Bye shared a statement which read: “Saying goodbye is not easy, but after 10 years at EastEnders and on the night of the show’s epic 40th anniversary – the time felt right. It’s an honour to leave on a story of this magnitude.
“A huge thank you to all the fans of the show – EastEnders wouldn’t be what it is without you – and to the BBC and EastEnders team for trusting me with this role for so many years. This fruit and veg man will always hold a special place in my heart.
“It’s time to look forward, and I’m incredibly excited for what the future holds. RIP Martin Fowler.”
