Emmerdale fans have been left in shock as killer John Sugden (Oliver Farnworth) appeared to be working with a secret accomplice following the death of Nate Robinson (Jurell Carter).
During the latest trip to the Dales (August 19), the police continued their investigations after confirming Owen Michaels’ suicide note, confessing to Nate’s murder, had been saved after he had died.
Liam Cavanagh (Jonny McPherson) answered questions from the detective about Owen’s last movements, while murderer John listened in with a worried expression.
Tracy Robinson (Amy Walsh) was left devastated as she realised her husband’s killer could still be on the loose, as she turned to Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley) for support.
Meanwhile, Aaron Dingle (Danny Miller) planned to move away from the village with husband John for a “fresh start”. But Aaron is unaware that John is trying to get away with murder.
Later in the episode, while in The Woolpack, Cain expressed his anger about his son Nate’s murder. He told Tracy and Liam, “If they are still out there, they’d better pray the police get to them before I do”, as John listened in.
Moments later, John looked flustered as he made a mysterious phone call.
He said: “Hey, it’s me. I could do with some help again. I’ll message you the details but there’s a loose end that needs tying up, tomorrow.”
Emmerdale fans immediately rushed to social media to predict who John was speaking to on the phone. Some suggested the mystery person was Anthony Fox (Nicholas Day), who is still alive, after being murdered earlier this year when John disposed of his body.
Taking to X, one person wrote: “#emmerdale Who is John speaking to when he says ‘It’s me, I need your help’, Is it Paddy running a ‘it’s good to talk’ helpline who he’s ringing? Or is it….grandad Anthony who could have been hiding in the cricket pavilion since he disappeared?.”
Another wrote: “#Emmerdale Ok what if Antony isn’t actually dead and John’s holding him somewhere?!?! Easy for him to give medical care being a medic!!”.
As a third chimed in: “Ruby’s dad”, while another echoed the sentiment and wrote: “I reckon it’s Ruby’s dad.”
