Coronation Street star Mikey North has warned fans about his character Gary Windass as he grows close to Lou Michaelis.
Recent scenes have seen Gary lying to his wife Maria Connor about helping out Lou and agreeing to buy Mick’s van in order to give Lou extra cash while Mick is in prison.
Upcoming scenes will see Maria arrested after a clash with Lou gets physical, and North has said the incident will push Gary even more towards Lou.
“He thinks that there was always more to it, and he’s not entirely sure that Maria’s telling the truth as to what happened, which drives them apart even more, and pushes him more towards Lou, because he’s not entirely sure that she’s telling the truth,” he said.
Things get even more complicated when Gary offers to buy Lou a drink despite her insistences that she doesn’t want to cause any trouble.

“He feels sorry for Lou and sees similarities between himself and her,” North explained.
“He saw how bad Mick could be, and he wanted to stick up for her a little bit, but Maria’s obviously of the other mind.
“Maria sees right through, where Gary doesn’t. Trouble is going to lie ahead for him…”
It seems the brawl between Maria and Lou will drive a wedge between Gary and Maria and put their marriage under significant pressure.
“It’s only going to go downhill from here,” confirmed North. “It seems that Lou might be cut from the same cloth as Mick, more than meets the eye. That’s to come!”

As to what’s next for his character, North said viewers haven’t seen the last of Lou “by a long shot”.
“Trouble lies ahead, definitely,” he said. “I think Gary’s probably going to regret what he does next…”
Gary being in trouble was also previously teased by Corrie star Jack P Shepherd as the David Platt actor told Digital Spy that “something bad” awaits.
“[Mick’s] still in it and he’s still doing naughty, bad things. I’m kind of involved in that, in a way,” Shepherd said.
“And then something happens with Gary. Something bad happens with Gary. I’m kind of involved in that.”
