Coronation Street fans think they have rumbled Bethany Platt’s ‘lie’, while others couldn’t help but wonder if they had spotted ‘chemistry’ between her and an unexpected newcomer.

Those who follow the ITV soap are willing the character to be the one to bring Jodie Ramsey down, after she appeared to be the only one suspicious of Shona Platt’s long-lost sibling.

As Corrie fans know, Jodie made her first appearance in Weatherfield back in January following her debut in Corrie’s epic crossover with Emmerdale, dubbed Corriedale, in which she was seen tied up in the back of a van being driven by Dales returnee, Graham Foster.

While not involved in the dramatic crash and the centre for the crossover, it was during her escape that she became injured, running into a tree when DC Kit Green gave chase through the woods, and as she ended up in the hospital, it was there that she was reunited with her long-lost sister, Shona Platt, who has been involved in the deadly smash with her husband, David.

Jodie has made herself comfortable with the Platts after being invited to stay at No.8 Coronation Street. But as viewers know, Jodie has started a plan to get in between her sister and her husband, with her behaviour towards other Weatherfield residents also coming into question.

And one person who hasn’t appeared too sure of Jodie is Bethany – and rightly so. After she seemingly had a role in Bethany being stood-up on her date last week, Jodie was keen to befriend David’s niece.

But Bethany’s uncertain feeling about Jodie continued as she bumped into Jodie in The Kabin, who was once again looking after Carla Connor’s baby niece, Connie. Later, she found herself chatting to DS Lisa Swain, Carla’s fiancee, and when she made comments about Jodie’s nanny experience, Bethany commented that they must have had to get a lot of references.

Lisa admitted that Carla had done the background checks and turning to her uncle, David, Bethany asked if he too had carried out any checks on his sister-in-law. Lisa thought it was a joke and left, but Bethany continued to question David and the look on her face suggested she wasn’t quite done with exploring Jodie’s authenticity.

But Bethany was then seen claiming to like Jodie, after she jumped to her defence in the Bistro when her ex, Daniel Osbourne, started making digs about his choice of women following his latest girlfriend, Megan Walsh, being exposed for grooming teenager Will Driscoll.

However, Corrie fans don’t think Bethany is quite telling the truth about how she feels about Jodie, while others think that they could have made it as a couple if it wasn’t for Jodie’s bizarre behaviour.
