Coronation Street fans are utterly convinced that Billy Mayhew (Daniel Brocklebank) will meet his demise at the hands of an Emmerdale character in what could be a sensational soap crossover twist.
Billy made his debut on the cobbles back in 2014 and has been at the centre of some truly gripping storylines, from murder allegations to battling drug addiction.
However, it’s been the vicar’s love life that has really captured viewers’ hearts, particularly his heartbreaking romance with late husband Paul Foreman (Peter Ash), whose devastating MND battle and subsequent death left Billy utterly shattered.
Following an impressive 11-year stint on our screens, it’s been confirmed that Daniel will be bidding farewell to Coronation Street in what promises to be a dramatic exit storyline.
Just last week, reports emerged suggesting that Billy is destined for a fatal end in what’s being described as ‘explosive’ scenes.
An insider revealed to The Sun: “Corrie bosses are busy plotting how to kill off Billy, having decided to axe Daniel earlier this year.
“There aren’t any plans to bring him back onto the soap, so it makes sense to make his exit the most impactful and explosive it can be”, reports Leicestershire Live.
Coronation Street fans ‘rumble’ Billy Mayhew’s killer in explosive crossover
Since news of Billy’s departure broke, devoted Corrie enthusiasts have been speculating that Billy might be murdered by recent arrival Theo Silverton (James Cartwright), as tensions continue to escalate between the pair over Todd Grimshaw (Gareth Pierce).
Yet soap devotees are now theorising that Billy could actually be killed by a resident of Emmerdale, potentially John Sugden (Oliver Farnworth), during the highly anticipated crossover episode scheduled for January 2026.
For the first time in British soap history, the hour-long episode will witness characters from both programmes unite in a celebration of the soap genre.
As Emmerdale viewers will recall, John is responsible for murdering Nate Robinson (Jurell Carter) and dumping his corpse in the lake.
The former soldier also disposed of Anthony Fox’s (Nicholas Day) remains after he was murdered by his daughter, Ruby (Beth Cordingly).
Supporters have flocked to social media to forecast Billy’s downfall, with one individual posting: “I think he’s gonna die in the crossover.”
A second enquired: “I am curious if this will have anything to do with the Emmerdale crossover. Isn’t that due to come out around the same time?”.
On X, another watcher declared: “Or John Sugden kills Billy in the Corrie and Dales crossover #Corrie #Emmerdale.

“Or maybe someone on the Street meeting John Sugden. That might be surprising for them! #Corrie #Emmerdale”, contributed another.
“I think that too, they did say there would be people leaving both soaps and I stand by my theory that a car crash is the most obvious way to do a crossover”, proposed one person.
