Will Sophia and Tate follow Amy’s orders?
The teen scene on Days of our Lives heated up once again on the December 31 episode. Tate and Sofia packed their bags and were about to run off to the abortion clinic, only for things to go sideways more than once. Now, Sophia’s mom is in the know and she has her own ideas for the future of her daughter’s pregnancy.
Change of Plans
A teen pregnancy is scary thing and it sure put the fear into Tate (Leo Howard)) and Sophia (Madelyn Kientz). Those two blue lines changed their world, and they weren’t sure how to deal with the consequences from their night of passion. A baby?! Neither of them are ready for that level of responsibility.
To their credit, the teens talked it out and made their decision. Terminating the pregnancy seemed like the best option all around, all things considered. They aren’t ready for parenting at all…and Tate is very much still in love with Holly (Ashley Puzemis). So much so, he didn’t even want her to know about the pregnancy because he feared it would ruin their chance at putting their puppy love romance back on track. 
Mommie Dearest
Holly accepted the truth and their decision and made peace with the situation rather quickly. Who didn’t, though, was Sophia’s mother. Once Amy (She Ne Nielson) heard the news, she went a bit off the rails. Not only did she come down hard on Sophia but she came down hard on Tate too. There will be no abortion here. They made a baby so they are getting a baby and she’s demanding they raise the child together.
And not only raise the child together, but as a married couple! These two are still in high school and she wants them to make two lifelong commitments – to the baby and to each other. This was definitely NOT the teen’s plan for their future. Not at all. That doesn’t matter to Amy, though. From here on out, the bun in Sophia’s oven comes first.
Runaway Bride?!
Sophia clearly doesn’t want a baby, and she doesn’t want a life with a fella who loves someone else. What can she do about it, though? Will she pack a bag and run off into the night to avoid her mother’s grand plan? We can see it!
She could run to a different state and follow her and Tate’s plan of termination. Or, she could run to a home for unwed mothers so she can have the baby in secret and put it up for adoption. Either way, she’s just not ready to be called “mama” and she needs to stop her own mother’s madness.
