Coronation Street star Vicky Myers shared her thoughts on Lisa Swain’s relationship with Carla Connor as she described them as “soulmates”.
Starring as DS Lisa Swain, Vicky originally joined the cast in 2019 and had a few sporadic appearances. It wasn’t until 2023 that she became a full-time cast member in one of the soap’s major storylines in recent years.
The no-nonsense detective became a regular for viewers as they learned more about the character. The single mother of teenager Betsy Swain was struggling after the death of her wife Becky, but threw herself into the case of missing Lauren Bolton.
Lauren had become enamoured with charming solicitor Joel Deering – a man who had a penchant for younger, vulnerable girls that he could manipulate.
When Lauren went missing, it wasn’t revealed until later that Joel had viciously attacked her, causing her to flee Weatherfield without telling anyone convinced that no one would believe her anyway.
Eventually, Joel was caught but unfortunately, not alive. Max Turner had tracked him down, but it was Lauren who killed him after hitting him over the head to save Max from his grasp.
Meanwhile viewers have been able to see a romance blossom between strong-headed business woman Carla Connor and Lisa – lovingly known as “Swarla” by fans.
They officially became a couple around Christmas time last year, and ever since they’ve continued to hit more milestones than most couples would in the first few months of dating.
From moving in together, to Robert Donovan holding them both hostage, to Lisa’s daughter Betsy being shot, and more recently a rejected marriage proposal, what could be next for the pair?

While the ITV soap remains tight-lipped over the future of Swarla, This Morning’s soap expert Sharon Marshall chatted with Vicky.
The actress teased: “It’s definitely love, for Lisa definitely it’s her soulmate. I think it would be very nice if we packed our bags and went to Ibiza, what do you think?” when asked if there will be a wedding.

Vicky is also nominated for Best Partnership at the British Soap Awards with Alison King, and added: “It’s brilliant and to get that recognition and acknowledgement is fantastic so fingers crossed on the night it comes good!”
