Rylan Clark has celebrated EastEnders‘ huge 40th anniversary this week by recreating one of the soap’s most iconic scenes, alongside one of the show’s legendary stars.
With EastEnders marking its milestone anniversary with a series of explosive episodes this week, Radio 2 presenter Rylan headed over to the Albert Square set yesterday for The Scott Mills Breakfast Show.
While he was on set, he took the chance to re-enact the massive 2001 scene that saw Kat and Zoe Slater’s row lead to the shocking revelation that Kat was actually Zoe’s mum, and not her sister as Zoe had always believed.
Rylan took on the role of Kat while Sonia Fowler star Natalie Cassidy played Zoe in the clip that was shared to Instagram, with Natalie saying: “You can’t tell me what to do, you ain’t my mother!”
Rylan then performed a dramatic shimmy as he shouted back Kat’s iconic line “Yes I am!” before the stars looked at each other in shock.
Rylan jokingly commented “B A F T A” on the clip, while EastEnders actors Jacqueline Jossa (Lauren Branning) and Emma Barton (Honey Mitchell) also shared their love for the moment.
The presenter couldn’t resist getting involved in another scene too, as he and Patsy Palmer (Bianca Jackson) recreated a famous Peggy Mitchell and Pat Butcher scene which resulted in some dramatic slaps.
As well as putting in a performance, Rylan also spoke to Natalie, Emma, Patsy and Perry Fenwick (Billy Mitchell) about their characters and storylines, alongside the much anticipated live episode which will air on Thursday (February 20).
With Cindy Beale’s attacker finally due to be revealed this week, today’s episode will see two major showdowns take place. The events will result in an explosion inside The Queen Vic – and it has already been confirmed that not all of Walford’s residents will survive the blaze.
Thursday’s live episode will see Sonia suddenly go into labour in the middle of the disaster, with limited help around her, while viewers will also have the chance to vote on whether Denise Fox should be with Jack Branning or Ravi Gulati.
