Coronation Street‘s Ken Barlow suffers a shock collapse next week, just when it seems that he’s finally growing suspicious over scheming Cassie Plummer.
Ken is rushed back to hospital after experiencing a funny turn while home alone at No.1.
Viewers have seen Cassie deliberately risk Ken’s health by spiking his drinks with antihistamines to make him drowsy.
The dangerous plan ensured that Cassie kept her job as Ken’s unofficial carer – and she was even recently invited to move in with him permanently so she could “support” him better.
Next week, Cassie continues to exploit her new opportunity by using Ken’s credit card whenever she can.
Cassie is thrilled when she receives a text message letting her know that her new iPad is out for delivery. She hides this from Steve McDonald, not wanting him to know what she’s up to.
Ruthless Cassie also orders two designer juicers in Ken’s name. With Steve oblivious to Cassie’s shameful behaviour, he decides to get to know her better by suggesting lunch at the Bistro.
Meanwhile, when Cassie’s daughter-in-law Fiz Dobbs mentions that she’s heading out to do some shopping, Cassie asks her to pick up some antihistamines.
Cassie claims to have allergies, but it seems very likely that she’s continuing with her secret plan to spike Ken.
Later at No.1, Ken closes his eyes and Cassie leaves the room for a moment. Suddenly, Ken’s eyes ping open, suggesting that he’s eager to keep a closer watch on her. Is he finally on to Cassie?
Shortly afterwards, Ken starts to feel unwell while home alone and collapses in pain. As he is unable to even reach the phone, there’s a worrying delay in him getting help.
Later in the week, Cassie visits Ken in the hospital and expresses her concern.
Is Ken any closer to catching her out?
Coronation Street airs these scenes on Wednesday, February 26 and Thursday, February 27 on ITV1 and ITVX.
