EastEnders actor Michelle Collins has teased the reveal of Cindy Beale’s attacker in the soap’s upcoming anniversary week.
Cindy was attacked with a shovel on Christmas Day and left for dead, although she managed to survive. Suspicion has fallen on several people.
She will learn who attacked her in the next few episodes, just before a huge explosion in The Vic leaves multiple characters fighting for their life, and not everyone survives…
Collins, who interestingly won’t be appearing on Thursday’s (February 20) live episode, teased that the anniversary week will be “nail-biting, powerful, and explosive.”
The actor admitted that she was shocked upon learning who the attacker is. “I actually thought I knew who it was, but I can see why they’ve done it,” she said.
“There are going to be some great scenes when she finds out who it is.”
She added that: “I never thought I would ever come back as I didn’t think they could find a way to bring her back [from the dead]. I never believed I would be coming back 25 years later, but I’m really chuffed to be a part of the 40th.
“I feel really honoured; all we want to do as an actor is to be challenged and have a great arc, and I’ve always had that on EastEnders.”
Collins described Cindy’s mindset before finding out the truth as “completely and utterly paranoid and running scared”, as well as “really isolated”. What’s she going to be like when she learns who attacked her?
