Coronation Street‘s Jack P Shepherd has opened up about the first argument he had with his fiancée Hanni Treweek about their upcoming wedding.
Shepherd, who is best known for his portrayal of David Platt on the soap, announced his engagement to his long-term girlfriend Treweek last year.
Speaking to Corrie stars Colson Smith and Ben Price on their On the Sofa podcast, Shepherd revealed that the couple recently had their first disagreement while planning their big day.
Shepherd said: “We have actually had the first argument of the wedding. So everything before this, it’s been, ‘We’re agreeing on everything.'”
According to the soap star, he wanted to get matching outfits for his nephews and nieces but was unaware that the bride and groom were expected to pay for the clothing.
“I didn’t know that, as the bride and groom, you have to pay for all their suits and costumes,” he said, adding that it’s not suitable to hire children’s suits as they “ruin” them on the day.
“What do kids do at weddings? They f*** up their suits. They do the Peter Kay kneeslide, so you have to pay for them. My brother’s got four kids, my sister’s got four kids, plus there’s my two, so there’s 10 children.”
Taking to his family WhatsApp group, Shepherd told his siblings “I ain’t doing it” and the family agreed they would all pay for their own clothes.
“We had a bit of a do but we’ve sorted it out. It’s the first disagreement. She was saying we have to but I said there’s too many of them,” he concluded.
