Emmerdale star Will Ash has hinted that Caleb Miligan and Cain Dingle’s tense new storyline could reach a dramatic climax in the upcoming limo crash episodes.
The brothers have been strong and united in recent months, but that all looks set to change as Caleb finally discovers the truth about his wife Ruby sleeping with Cain.
Ruby and Cain turned to each other for comfort late last year while both going through difficult times in their lives.
They’ve since agreed on a strict pact of silence, but Ruby’s abusive father Anthony Fox exposed the truth to Caleb shortly before his death.
Wednesday’s episode, which is already available to watch on streaming service ITVX, marks a major turning point in the story as Caleb discovers that evil Anthony was telling him the truth.
In Emmerdale‘s upcoming Valentine’s Day episode, Caleb and Cain are among the 17 villagers who head out in two limos for a night out.
Caleb offers to be the chauffeur for the boys and is pleased to be as far away as possible from Cain.
Speaking about the storyline for the first time, Will commented: “There is so much that happens across this week – so many twists, turns and revelations. So many unexpected things happen.
“When I read the scripts it was like: ‘Wow!’ As it is just one thing after another. Each episode ends on another cliffhanger. I think it should be very good.
“For Caleb, going into this, there is a lot of drama as he brings quite a lot of baggage with him on the night out – like him knowing about Cain having an affair with Ruby. He’s about to blow a gasket. He is simmering as you’re with him, but you don’t know if he is going to lay all his cards on the table about what he knows.
“When Anthony first revealed Ruby and Cain were having an affair, I don’t think Caleb was sure if that was true, as Anthony had told him when he had the gun pointed at him under pressure. When he confronted Cain and asked him about it directly, Cain allayed his fears and said that nothing happened.
“Caleb thought it was just Anthony trying to goad him and was making things up. As Anthony was so despicable and vile throughout everything, it made sense he would have been trying to wind Caleb up.
“But by this point, when Caleb is behind the wheel of the limo, he’s just actually found out it did happen and he wants Cain to tell him the truth. The atmosphere is definitely very tense. They’re all having a great time, but it’s tense because Caleb is driving the limo.”
Both limos involved in the night out end up crashing during the journey. Caleb is forced to swerve to avoid an oncoming truck, while Charity Dingle faces a similar disaster when she spots her son Noah in the road and desperately tries to avoid him.
One of the vehicles ends up stranded precariously on an icy lake, which leaves hanging in the balance.
Will continued: “It was really exciting because we were filming at night. Night shoots are really hard work but we don’t get a chance to do them a lot on Emmerdale. So we felt like naughty school kids, being allowed out of school. There’s an exciting atmosphere when you’re filming at night.
“But also, for this block they got all the toys out – they spent a lot of money, or it certainly seemed like they spent a lot of money on all the special FX, the equipment and the actual stunt itself.
“The aftermath of the stunt is mind blowing when you see it. It felt really real. It was amazing to be part of it and lives will be in peril.”
