Emmerdale aired tragedy for April Windsor after the teenager’s disappearance was explained in a special episode.
The youngster ran away from home over the festive period following a turbulent few weeks, in which she was kidnapped by the mysterious Jade and saw her relationship with her father, Marlon Dingle, deteriorate.
Monday’s (February 3) episode of the ITV soap saw Marlon and Rhona receive an update from PC Swirling regarding April’s whereabouts, with Tuesday’s (February 4) follow-up being a special standalone story to depict April’s troubled journey.
The one-off episode began with April hitching a ride out of town to the big city with an unknown driver, with the teen subsequently using the little money she had for a hotel room. After spending nearly all of her funds, April found herself sleeping on the streets.
After being ushered away from her spot, April was conned out of giving away the remainder of her money, with the teen squatting in an abandoned building after getting involved with the shady Dylan.
After April had been seen vomiting each morning, the group cottoned on that she was pregnant. She subsequently headed out on the streets with Becca to gather some money, but things took a dark turn after Becca died following a stabbing.

April continued to work with Dylan in a bid to obtain money, though resorted to stealing as she struggled to make enough. After finding a poster asking for information regarding her disappearance, Dylan was arrested for dealing drugs.
April successfully managed to evade the police and sneak out of the abandoned building, but soon keeled over in pain as her baby began to kick. After members of the public ignored her pleas for help, April tragically suffered a stillbirth in a public toilet.
Being heartbroken at the turn of events, a weary April laid motionless on a park bench as a child approached her, though the young girl was ushered away by her mother as April’s loneliness grew deeper.
