Coronation Street guest star Scott Anson has confirmed that he’s making a return to the soap.
The actor is reprising his role as Lauren Bolton’s father Reece in upcoming scenes.
Scott announced the news on X this week, sharing a picture of a Coronation Street script that he’d been sent through the post.
He revealed: “Bad boy Reece is back.”
Digital Spy understands that Scott is returning for one episode and further storyline details will be revealed nearer the time.
As the soap typically films around six to eight weeks in advance, fans can expect to see Reece again in late March or early April.
Reece was introduced to Coronation Street in late 2022 as part of Max Turner’s far-right extremism storyline.
The villain was a central figure in Griff Reynolds’ dangerous gang, which slowly groomed Max into working for them in sinister scenes.
Reece’s original stint on the cobbles came to an end in early 2023, when Griff and his gang were arrested and sent to prison over a bomb that was planted at Weatherfield’s winter market.
Since then, Reece has returned for further brief appearances in July 2023 and March 2024 for storylines involving his daughter Lauren.
Viewers have recently seen Lauren receive a not-guilty verdict at her trial for the murder of evil Joel Deering.
Lauren and her boyfriend Max are hoping for a fresh start now that her ordeal is over, but there’s still a cloud of uncertainty hanging over the couple as Max will be caught up in the Platt family’s dramatic house fire next week.
Speaking recently after Lauren’s verdict, Cait Fitton – who plays the troubled character – told her Instagram followers: “It’s quite hard to put into words how grateful and how proud and lucky I feel to be given the opportunity I’ve been given.
“I’m very aware of the complexity of the storyline and how hard it must have been for people to watch. But I just wanted to pop on because I woke up this morning to a flood of messages. I just wanted to say thank you to everybody who’s reached out.”
She added: “Without you guys supporting day in, day out – your dedication means everything to us. It keeps the show going
