Coronation Street will air a surprising passionate moment for Leanne Battersby next week, as she reconnects with an old flame.
Leanne has been struggling with loneliness following her split from Nick Tilsley and her subsequent revenge plan against him and his new partner, her sister Toyah Habeeb.
Having tried to frame Nick and Toyah for fraud, Leanne has also damaged her bond with Nick’s son Sam Blakeman, who has been hugely disappointed by Leanne’s recent behaviour.
In scenes that will air next Wednesday (January 29), Leanne sits alone in the café with a cup of tea after getting off to a bad start with her community service.
Steve McDonald soon comes across a despondent Leanne and suggests that she should pop over to No.1 that afternoon to have a drink with him.
As they share a bottle of wine later that day, the pair reminisce about the past, as they chat over memories of their late son Oliver.
Steve reassures a worried Leanne that Sam thinks the world of her and that their strong bond won’t be easily broken, despite everything that’s happened.
An emotional Leanne leans in to kiss Steve and he quickly responds, with the pair enjoying a passionate embrace.
Could this be the start of an unexpected new relationship?
With Leanne still battling with the aftermath of Nick and Toyah’s relationship being exposed, Georgia Taylor, who plays Toyah, has suggested that she isn’t certain whether the couple will be able to last in the long-term while a still-angry Leanne is around.
“This is her sister’s ex,” Taylor said of Toyah and Nick’s potential to stay together. “Maybe in the future if Leanne moves on with somebody else and is able to be happy with a new partner.”
